Pilates... a complement to any fitness and rehabilitation program.
With an emphasis on breath, core conditioning and body awareness, Pilates exercise is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints. Performed on a mat or specialized equipment, Pilates is a fitness regime for a lifetime. The perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab, and life. Pilates exercise will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease.
Pilates Beginner
An introduction to the proper positioning and alignment of the spine, pelvis, ribcage, scapula and head. Breathing will be linked to movement and stability as you learn how and why it is important to utilize your "inner core". Participants can expect to gain insight into their own posture as well as strengthen through the "neutral". No experience required.
Discoverer Pilates
This seven week session is designed for those who have never participated in a Pilates class. Each week focuses on the five basic principles — breathing, pelvic placement, ribcage placement, scapular movement & stabilization, as well as head & neck placement. Exploring the mind-body connection, this session will help to examine your posture and ensure your exercise technique is just right.
Pilates Newbie Fundamentals
This class is for rank beginners/complete newbies. It includes education on breath, alignment, flowing form your center, precision, control and gentle movements. Learn about alignment in standing, seated and on the mat. You will aquire fundamental movements as you incorporate them into mat exercises with focus, flexibility posture and body awareness.
Pilates Level Intermediate
Learn how to deepen into your pilates knowledge. Considered an intermediate class and require Pilates Beginner and or Newbie Fundamentals prior.
Pilates Magic
Incorporate the magic circle into your Pilates recipes. Learn how to use it and aquire ease and facility combining mat and circle.
Pilates Reformer Trio
Enhance your Pilates experience by adding a workout on the Reformer! The Reformer is the most popular piece of equipment and one of Joseph Pilates' original inventions. The unique moveable carriage,spring and pulley system led to the creation of more than 100 different classical exercises, each one dependent and built upon the other. It provides support while teaching the student in a horizontal plane of movement, without stress and strain on the joints. It allows for alignment of the body before standing, sitting or kneeling.
