Kettlebell Workshop for Men and Ladies | Sunday August 15th, 2010 | 1:30 PM-4:30 PM | $75.00 Add to cart | What is a Kettlebell? Best described as a "cannonball with a handle", this piece of exercise equipment was first used by athletes over 2000 years ago in Greece, where the kettlebell is thought to have originated. Since then, it has been used by athletes, trainers, and 'strongmen' in many cultures and countries. Currently, the kettlebell is used by people of varying fitness levels from the raw beginner to pro-athletes. The kettlebell is by far one of the most versatile and simple to use training tools on the market today. How can Kettlebell training benefit the Yoga practitioner? Both kettlebell training and Yoga share a long history of many thousands of years. Like Yoga, there is a minimum equipment requirement to enjoy a full-bodied and empowered workout. Kettlebells require intense focus and breath control, primordial elements also required in a Yoga practice. Kettlebell training is in many ways the antithesis of traditional weight lifting. Muscle groups are not isolated. Instead, almost every kettlebell exercise engages literally hundreds of muscles simultaneously. Motions are not confined to a single or two-dimensional plane. Instead, all three planes of motion are exercised effectively and efficiently. The result is a well-toned, well-balanced body that represents great functional strength without bulky size. One can even be creative and mix Yoga and kettlebell training together for a new and novel twist on functional training. Maximum 10 participants. No experience necessary. This will be a pre-req for future classes | |
